Beth Davis President, SD Rural Enterprise
Over the past ten years Beth has grown SD Rural Enterprise into a multimillion dollar organization that brings innovative products and services to rural development. Prior to coming to SD Rural Enterprise Beth started (and failed in) several private business enterprises. Beth served as the interim director for the Entrepreneur Network for Women and coordinator for the Center for Enterprise Facilitation.
Jael Kampfe Program Consultant, Bar K Management
A Yale graduate, Jael Kampfe began her involvement with entrepreneurship as an Echoing Green Fellow in 1993. In 1998, she co-founded 4 Times Foundation, an economic development fellowship model based in Indian country, which was the inspiration for Dakota Rising. Currently ranching her family’s fourth generation home place, Jael continues to provide consulting services as she grows her own businesses.
Gerald Sherman Program Consultant, Indian Land Capital Company
Gerald is the Founding Executive Director of the Lakota Fund and is currently the President/CEO of Indian Land Capital Company. Gerald also has several years of bank management experience and was instrumental in the work of the Four Times Foundation. Gerald’s expertise includes strategic planning, business technical assistance, alternative dispute resolution, and Indian Country economic development.
Kristi Wagner Program Developer, S D Rural Enterprise.
Kristi Wagner markets and oversees the community capacity building programs for SD Rural Enterprise. Kristi serves as the Site Coordinator for Dakota Rising. She is a trained facilitator and has delivered SD Rural Enterprise LeadershipPlentySD and Creating Value Added Communities programs. Kristi Wagner is the Owner/ and Chief Executive Officer of the Rushmore Center for Civic Leadership.
Deborah Markley Managing Director and Director of Research, Center for Rural Entrepreneurship
Deborah’s focus within the Center is practice-driven research and evaluation of effective models for entrepreneur-focused economic development in rural places. Deb has been contracted to document the outcomes of the Dakota Rising program.
SOUTH DAKOTA RURAL ENTERPRISE STAFF Cheryl Leasure Communication and Event Coordinator Without Cheryl’s expertise and experience, this conference would not have been possible. She’s responsible for the communication and coordinating of all the SD Rural Enterprise events. Her previous work experience was in customer service
and marketing.
Dick Werner Credit Officer Dick is SD Rural Enterprise’s credit officer. His extensive experience in banking and a genuine enthusiasm for community development is not only an asset to the organization, but also to our variety of constituents. Dick can be counted on to be not only logical, but creative when the question is about the money.
Lin VanHofwegen Vice President of Operations Lin manages the details of SD Rural Enterprise and Dakotas America LLC. She serves as compliance officer, performing daily internal work of the organization. Her attention to the
operational nuts and bolts creates a firm foundation for the delivery of products and services.
