- Westerville’s Economic Development web site
To encourage stable economic development, the city of Westerville, Ohio’s Economic Development Coordinator regularly provides interested businesses with information about available properties. In spring 2001, the city set out to streamline this task by creating two GIS Web applications: one to enable city staff to input and post information about available properties, the other to allow interested professionals (real estate agents and brokers, developers, and Chamber of Commerce members) to query that database 24/7. www.westerville.org
- Discover Sioux City
The first ArcIMS solution in Iowa that provides expanding or relocating
businesses with site selection assistance. Website visitors can quickly and easily search for vacant commercial properties, perform user-defined demographic analysis and generate site-specific business reports. Zoning, Aerial Photos, Urban Renewal Districts, Waterways, Railroads and Traffic Counts can be viewed on the map interface. - MarketMaker is an interactive website designed to find supply chain partners and to improve

decisions. The website is a collaboration between the University of Illinois Initiative for the
Development of Entrepreneurship in Agriculture (IDEA), the Illinois Department of Agriculture and C-FAR (Illinois Council on Food and Agricultural Research).

- Honolulu Property Locator is an ArcIMS solution that enables businesses to perform site selection analysis throughout the Island of Oahu. Website visitors can search for vacant commercial properties and perform user-defined demographic and business analysis. Parcel information, aerials, and infrared imagery are all available through the map interface. This economic development program was recognized by the Center for Digital Government and the Honolulu website was first place in the 2002 Digital Cities survey.

- The Los Angeles County Workforce Collaborative program connects employees, training facilities, and businesses using ArcIMS. Unemployed and low-paid people are linked to opportunities for higher paying jobs requiring limited training. GIS shows people the training and employment opportunities nearby their homes because long distances can be a barrier to securing jobs and workforce training.

- The Department of Commerce has developed the Brownfields Location Information System (BLIS) to promote environmental clean-up throughout the state of Wisconsin. BLIS is an Internet mapping service that allows users to locate brownfield properties available for redevelopment. BLIS is part of the Department of Commerce Internet mapping framework project, WISCOMP.

- The Washington State Department of Revenue's online GIS services provides lookup tools and maps for the State's different tax rates. The State's sales tax and forest tax information vary by location. Often, businesses are uncertain which sales tax rate is correct for a certain store. Or, timber harvesters are unsure as to which haul zone code and stumpage value area code to apply to harvested trees. Also, for sales tax, users can type in an address, get the corresponding sales tax rate, and view a map of the address typed in. Alternatively for forest tax, users can specify a legal description, get the corresponding haul zone code and stumpage value area code, and view a map of the specified legal description.

- SacSites is an ESRI ArcIMS application designed to provide enhanced information services to those interested in business or development in Sacramento.
